UFC Fight Night was held in Las Vegas, where Cannonier won by a scorecard of 49-45, 49-45, 48-46. Cannonier is considered the No.3 contender in the UFC's middleweight division, while Vettori is No.9.
Cannonier says his goal is the UFC middleweight title, which is currently held by Israel Adesanya. Adesanya (23-1-0) defeated Cannonier by TKO at UFC 264 last year. Cannonier says he wants to rematch Adesanya, "I want to rematch Adesanya, because I know I have the ability. I know I have the talent, I have the determination, I have the concept."

Featherweight Pat Sabatini (18-4-0), lightweight Manuel Torres (14-2-0) and welterweight Nicolas Dalby (22-4-1) also won their respective fights.
