David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are James Gunn's new Superman and Lois Lane.

David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will appear as  Superman and Lois Lane in the next James Gunn movie. The casting was announced through Twitter on Tuesday by Warner Bros. spokesman and the co-chair of DC Studios, who is also writing and directing "Superman: Legacy" for July 2025, verified it.

After Henry Cavill spent a decade portraying Superman on the big screen, considerable curiosity surrounded the person who would step into his shoes. Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney apparently lost out on the part to Corenswet. The 29-year-old Philadelphia native portrayed an aspiring actor in Ryan Murphy's Netflix series "The Politician" and "Hollywood," and more recently, he played a theatre owner who accidentally crosses paths with Mia Goth's wannabe actress in Ti West's "Pearl."

The most well-known of the two is Brosnahan, who just ended her five-season term as "The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel"'s showrunner. She won two Golden Globes and an Emmy for her portrayal as Midge Maisel. Actors Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor allegedly participated in the Lois Lane role auditions.

Last year, Gunn and seasoned producer Peter Safran were brought on board to assist restructure Warner Bros.' DC approach. Their ambitious 10-year plan begins with "Superman: Legacy," which, according to Gunn, follows the superhero's quest to understand both his noble Kryptonian ancestry and his upbringing in a modest town in the Midwest as Clark Kent.
