Are Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson Really Brothers From Another Mother?

The news that Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are collaborating once more for a new comedy series for Apple TV+ may thrill you if you are a fan of both actors. "Brother from Another Mother" is the name of the show, which promises to be a comical and endearing examination of their connection and family.

Would you believe us if we said, however, that their friendship could be more than simply a coincidence? What if they are in fact, blood relatives? McConaughey shockingly admitted that his mother could have had a connection with the father of actor Woody Harrelson during a recent podcast with Kelly Ripa.

According to McConaughey, he and Harrelson were hanging out in Greece a few years ago, when his mom casually dropped a bombshell. She said to Harrelson, "Woody, I knew your dad." And by "knew", she meant more than just acquaintances. McConaughey stated that his parents were going through their second divorce at the time, and Harrelson's father was on leave from prison. Yes, prison. Harrelson's dad was a notorious hitman, was convicted of killing a federal judge in 1979 and also been suspected of being involved in the JFK assassination.

According to McConaughey and Harrelson, who performed some maths, their parents may have met and had a relationship in a few different locations and at various times. However, he also expressed reluctance to learn the truth, adding that they are thinking about using DNA testing to support their concerns. He remarked, "He's asking me to take a chance to go, 'Wait a minute, you're trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?'"

McConaughey and Harrelson have experimented with the notion of being brothers before.

They have starred together in two previous projects: the 1999 comedy "Edtv", where they played brothers who became reality TV stars; and the 2014 crime drama "True Detective", where they played partners who investigated a series of murders. In both cases, they displayed great chemistry and rapport on screen, which might be explained by their possible genetic connection.

Their new show, "Brother From Another Mother", will take their relationship to another level. The show will follow them as they invite their combined families to live together on McConaughey's ranch in Texas. The show is described as "a heartfelt odd couple love story revolving around the strange and beautiful bond" between them. Mimi Read, who also collaborated with McConaughey on his Oscar-winning movie "Dallas Buyers Club," devised the show.

The show is expected to premiere on Apple TV+ sometime in 2024.

Whether they are biologically related or not, McConaughey and Harrelson are two of Hollywood's most brilliant and likeable performers. Their admirers will undoubtedly like their new presentation, in which they can display their warmth and humour. Who knows, maybe along the journey they may learn the truth about their paternity.
