Manchester City reach FA Cup semis with dominant 6-0 win over Burnley

Manchester City delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, crushing Burnley 6-0 in their FA Cup quarter-final clash at the Etihad Stadium. The result secured City's place in the semi-finals, where they will face either Chelsea or Everton at Wembley next month.

Erling Haaland was the star of the show once again, scoring twice to take his tally to seven goals in just two games. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring after just 13 minutes, before adding a second at 58 minutes. Julian Alvarez also scored twice, while Cole Palmer and Phil Foden completed the rout with late strikes.

It was a painful return to the Etihad for Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, who faced his former club for the first time since taking the reins at the Clarets. The Belgian watched on as his side was outclassed and overwhelmed by Pep Guardiola's men.

City dominated from start to finish, with Burnley managing just two shots on target from 19 attempts. The hosts were ruthless and relentless, scoring four goals in the second half after leading 2-0 at the break.

Guardiola was full of praise for his team's performance, particularly for Haaland, whom he described as "a special player". The City boss said: "We played very well today. We were focused and aggressive from the start. We scored some beautiful goals and we didn't concede any chances. I'm very happy with our performance."

Kompany, meanwhile, admitted that his side was simply outplayed by City and congratulated his former team-mates on their victory. He said: "We knew it would be very difficult today against one of the best teams in Europe. They were too good for us today."

Despite the defeat, Kompany remains proud of what his team has achieved so far this season in the Championship, where they currently sit at the top of the table. He also thanked City for their warm reception and expressed his gratitude for having a statue outside their stadium.

For City, the result keeps alive their hopes of winning a historic treble this season, having already secured the Premier League title and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. With the likes of Haaland, Foden, and De Bruyne in their ranks, Guardiola's side will be hoping to continue their dominance and bring more silverware to the Etihad
