Chelsea's defence exposed in disappointing draw with Everton.

Everton held Chelsea to a disappointing 2-2 stalemate at Stamford Bridge, depriving the Blues of a chance to win their fourth consecutive Premier League match. Joao Felix shone for Chelsea, scoring a spectacular goal and displaying his talent with his movement, touch, and vision. But, mistakes in defence cost the Blues dearly, with Kalidou Koulibaly to blame for both Everton goals.

Kepa Arrizabalaga began in goal for Chelsea and was unable to prevent Abdoulaye Doucoure's equaliser but could have done better to prevent Ellis Simms' late equaliser. The distribution of the Spanish goalie was also problematic at times.

Wesley Fofana had a strong defensive performance overall, although his placement was exposed at times, and he did not work well with Reece James on the right wing. Kalidou Koulibaly had a dismal performance, appearing unsteady and susceptible against Everton's onslaught. Both goals were allowed by the seasoned centre-back, who lacked leadership and poise.

Benoit Badiashile struggled to keep up with Demarai Gray's pace and cleverness, although he did make several superb interceptions and clearances. Reece James had a quiet game, not contributing anything offensively or defensively. Enzo Fernandez was slick and controlled on the ball, displaying his passing range and vision while commanding the Chelsea midfield.

Mateo Kovacic was energised and inventive, generating opportunities for himself and his teammates and winning several balls back to press forward with purpose. Ben Chilwell had an outstanding performance, helping Felix's goal with a beautiful ball and defending well against Everton's threats on his side. During the game, Christian Pulisic was active and aggressive, making a wonderful run to set up Felix's goal.

Kai Havertz scored from the penalty spot to put Chelsea back up, but he struggled to get involved in the game or properly connect up with Felix. Joao Felix was the show's headliner, scoring a spectacular goal and displaying his talent with his movement, touch, and vision.

Conor Gallagher came in for Pulisic after 62 minutes as Chelsea altered formation, adding some energy and bite to the midfield but failing to assist his team win. Ruben Loftus-Cheek replaced Kovacic in the 80th minute but had little time to make an effect. Carney Chukwuemeka came in late for Felix, although he didn't see much action, while Trevoh Chalobah came on in injury time for Chilwell.

Manager Graham Potter's squad dominated the game but was unable to convert their possession into further goals. He made some wise replacements, but it wasn't enough to prevent Everton from stealing a point. After the painful tie, Chelsea will seek to bounce back and maintain their Premier League top-four ambitions.
